Week 5 – Progress and Status Report (Sprint 2)

Overview

During Week 5, our focus was on enhancing the app’s functionality and user interaction within Sprint 2. We primarily worked on implementing location-based features, improving user permissions, and introducing checkout and chat functionalities to make the platform more interactive and user-friendly.

While integrating the location permission module to display nearby food listings, we encountered minor permission-related issues. However, the team successfully debugged most of them, and the app is now running smoothly. The only remaining task is completing the Firebase Storage permission setup for handling images and uploads.

We also introduced a checkout scenario where users can confirm food items once approved by donors and added a real-time chat feature for better coordination between users and donors. Work on push notifications and Stripe payment API integration is scheduled for next week.

Reflection

Week 5 was highly productive as the core features of Sprint 2 were nearly completed. Despite facing some challenges with location and storage permissions, the team demonstrated excellent problem-solving and collaboration. The integration of chat and checkout features has added significant value to the overall app experience.

Next week, our focus will be on final polishing, ensuring smooth permission handling, and integrating Stripe payment and notifications before final testing and deployment.

 Week-5 Report  June 28, 2025 My focus this week was on broadening our project by suggesting an idea that lends itself to our aim of tackling the problems of food waste and food accessibility - a Community Fridge Locator and Booking System. By adding a map-based fridge locator to our system, users will be able to see where there are community fridges near them, what is available or needed at which fridges, and they can even claim space to drop off their food.
