Week 11 – Dashboard Improvement & UI Refinements

Work Done

  1. Improved the Dashboard layout to make key user information easier to read and more organised.

  2. Updated the design of the Recent Activity section, ensuring food history items appear clearly with proper spacing and icons.

  3. Enhanced the visual structure for:

    • Total Listings

    • Total Orders

    • My Requests

    • Location & Map markers



  4. Fixed alignment issues between cards and made sure the dashboard scales correctly on different screen sizes.

  5. Improved icon consistency (size, color, padding) to match the overall app design.

  6. Helped test dashboard navigation between Home → Dashboard → Activity, verifying smooth transitions.

Current Status

  • Dashboard now displays cleaner cards, improved spacing, and consistent styling.

  • Recent Activity loads correctly with updated UI and no overlapping elements.

  • Dashboard works well on smaller and larger devices after layout refinements.

  • No major UI bugs present; only final polishing required.

Plans for Next Week

  1. Add minor visual enhancements (drop shadows, rounded corners, small accent colors).

  2. Improve loading animation for dashboard data.

  3. Assist in testing dashboard data accuracy after the final payment and delivery updates.

  4. Help prepare dashboard screenshots for final presentation and documentation.

 Week-5 Report  June 28, 2025 My focus this week was on broadening our project by suggesting an idea that lends itself to our aim of tackling the problems of food waste and food accessibility - a Community Fridge Locator and Booking System. The idea was spurred by Starr's own research into local food-sharing projects, where community fridges are emerging as an increasingly popular grassroots solution. By adding a map-based fridge locator to our system, users will be able to see where there are community fridges near them, what is available or needed at which fridges, and they can even claim space to drop off their food. This sort of system can be very helpful for smaller food businesses or supermarkets, or anyone wishing to give away perishables in a speedy, organised fashion. With increasing concerns about sustainability and food insecurity, we saw an opportunity to use smart app features to build a solution that connects food donors (restaurants, supermarkets, households) with recipients (charities, shelters, and individuals).
