Weekly Research Report - Week 12

Project: Food Next Door

 

Research Focus: Polishing our work


Once we completed the research study from our side, along with the research, we had the presentation and information memorandum to prepare. After completion of all these, we had submission by 12th Aug by 4pm, which is this week's Tuesday 4 on before submission 

Sampurna and I had our last consultation with our teacher, Kriss, for further feedback, if any slight improvement and required things are missing after the certain feedback, although there were lots to improve, we did our part, completed all the tasks and submitted and then the next day, i.e Thursday, we did our presentation without the teacher

Throughout the week and research before the presentation, we had our group meeting about what and how to go through the presentation to make it as concise and as informative as possible. Everyone did a good job.

Week-5 Report (Food NextDoor)

 Week-5 Report  June 28, 2025 My focus this week was on broadening our project by suggesting an idea that lends itself to our aim of tackling the problems of food waste and food accessibility - a Community Fridge Locator and Booking System. The idea was spurred by Starr's own research into local food-sharing projects, where community fridges are emerging as an increasingly popular grassroots solution. By adding a map-based fridge locator to our system, users will be able to see where there are community fridges near them, what is available or needed at which fridges, and they can even claim space to drop off their food. This sort of system can be very helpful for smaller food businesses or supermarkets, or anyone wishing to give away perishables in a speedy, organised fashion. Week 5 Report

  Week 5 Report  Project: Food NextDoor This week,  I engaged with some theoretical and technical explore to better understand the online food ordering and delivery ecosystem. This involves reviewing related academic literature on the topic and analyzing how existing systems are organized and tested. I go back to the Trello board to track progress and ensure alignment with the tasks allocated across the team. This helped me to understand better how each component fits into our larger proposal and what indicators are approaching. During our colleague discussion, we focused on finalizing the roadmap and identifying the next steps. The conversation helped clarify roles and expectations, and we also briefly discussed system features that might be adaptable from real-world examples.
