Week 7 Report

This week, we submitted our Project Brief and afterwards, I concentrated on developing practical features as per Sprint 4.. During our team meeting, we discussed implementation goals, and I contributed primarily to history tracking, feature refinement and bug handling. Proposing intuitive methods of presenting the past listings of food and claims on the basis of timestamp data, I also discussed how this would open up some transparency to the contributors and receivers.

I also researched how role-based UI components could dynamically adjust for dual-role users. This involved researching conditional rendering behaviours in React and assessing UX flows of similar platforms. To distinguish the experience even more, I tried adding a visual tag such as claimed or available soon, with the help of the real-time sync feature of Firestore.

Besides design, I started intensive local testing of the new UI components on usability of the diverse user roles. The testing assisted in determining the areas to improve early enough. I presented the results of the test at the team sync, received valuable feedback, and developed the layout and functionality even more using it.

This week we paid more attention to the creation of interactive aspects of the work and began to test. We also did some work on bugs to ensure that the system is more stable. The following actions will assist us in preparing user testing and feedback in the following stages.

Week-5 Report (Food NextDoor)

 Week-5 Report  June 28, 2025 My focus this week was on broadening our project by suggesting an idea that lends itself to our aim of tackling the problems of food waste and food accessibility - a Community Fridge Locator and Booking System. The idea was spurred by Starr's own research into local food-sharing projects, where community fridges are emerging as an increasingly popular grassroots solution. By adding a map-based fridge locator to our system, users will be able to see where there are community fridges near them, what is available or needed at which fridges, and they can even claim space to drop off their food. This sort of system can be very helpful for smaller food businesses or supermarkets, or anyone wishing to give away perishables in a speedy, organised fashion. Week 5 Report

  Week 5 Report  Project: Food NextDoor This week,  I engaged with some theoretical and technical explore to better understand the online food ordering and delivery ecosystem. This involves reviewing related academic literature on the topic and analyzing how existing systems are organized and tested. I go back to the Trello board to track progress and ensure alignment with the tasks allocated across the team. This helped me to understand better how each component fits into our larger proposal and what indicators are approaching. During our colleague discussion, we focused on finalizing the roadmap and identifying the next steps. The conversation helped clarify roles and expectations, and we also briefly discussed system features that might be adaptable from real-world examples.
